Richard Lee “Roc” Rochester, 90, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024.
Roc was born on October 25, 1933, in Tiffin to the late Silas and Anna (Strausbaugh) Rochester. He married Shirley (Ball) at St. Joseph Catholic Church on April 21, 1956.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Rochester of Tiffin, children, Richard Jeff (Stacy) Rochester of Collierville, TN, Becky Kegley, Robbi Conner and Shelly Riedel all of Tiffin, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Roc is also survived by his siblings, Marge Conner, Judy Row, Jim, Ron, Tom and Joe Rochester.
Roc was a Captain for Tiffin Fire Department retiring on February 29, 1988 after 26 years of service with the department. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during Korea. Roc was a member of Tiffin Amvets Post 48 and the Tiffin Art Guild. Roc enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, golf, woodworking and reading, but his real passion was turning wood bowls. He turned them into beautiful pieces of artwork.
Roc was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, David Rochester, Mary Pat Rochester, a granddaughter, Angela Conner, sons-in-law, Ronald Kegley and Claude Riedel.
Graveside services for Roc will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic cemetery with Military Rites being rendered by the United Veterans Council. Visitation for family and friends will be held also on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m., until 11:45 a.m., at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Veterans Council, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Tiffin Art Guild.
