Alice Lou “Sal” (King) Channels, 92, of Bettsville, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont.
Sal was born on May 28, 1931 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to the late William D. and Faye B. (Barringer) King. She married Willis Marion Channels in Bettsville on September 23, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 4, 2007.
Survivors include her two sons, Steven (Terry) Channels of Findlay and Mark Evan Channels of Dallas, TX, five grandchildren, Christopher (Trish) Channels, William M. Channels, Amy (Chance) Taylor, Cara (Scott) Hubbell and Matt (Ashley) Channels, seven great-grandchildren.
Sal was a homemaker and a member of Zion United Church of Christ and Nature Trails Golf Course for 58 years where she was the club champion for nine consecutive years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a 1949 Bettsville High School graduate.
Sal was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, H. Eugene King and Wallace R. King and a daughter-in-law, Sherilyn D. Channels.
Funeral services for Sal will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Bettsville with Pastor Nancy Smith officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort.
