Alice May (Lust) Hieber, 94, formerly of Bloomville, OH passed away September 4, 2024, at The Lodge Memory Care at Countryside Village, Grants Pass, OR.
She was born October 22, 1929 at home in Lykens Township, OH to George and Mable (Brause) Lust. Alice graduated from McCutchenville High School in 1947 and Grant Hospital Nursing School Columbus, OH in 1950. She married Donald William Hieber on August 20, 1950.
Alice worked at her husband’s farm implement dealership, Hieber Sales in Tiffin, OH as a bookkeeper for many years and after raising her family went to work as a surgical nurse in the Bucyrus Hospital Surgical Department in 1970, retiring in 1992.
Alice became a member of the Eastern Stars in 1950 and remained active her entire life rising to the rank of Worthy Matron and Grand Officer. She was on the Board of Directors Crawford County Council of Aging from 1971 to 1979 and was a member of St. John’s Baseline United Church of Christ, Bloomville, OH where she participated in the church choir. Alice was an avid gardener, quilter and seamstress and made the most delicious pies. She was especially proud to have traveled with her husband to all the U.S. states and continents excluding Antarctica.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her four siblings.
She is survived by her children, Diana J. (Michael) Alt of New Washington, OH, William D. (Lee Ann) Hieber of Silverthorne, CO, Linda J. (Douglas) Barkey of Grants Pass, OR, and Pamela J. (Bernhard) Witzmann of Onsted, MI; grandchildren, Christie M. (Scott) Shoup, Andrea M. Alt, Adam W. (Monique) Hieber and David W. (Kendra) Hieber; and her great-grandchildren Allison Silcox, Liam Hieber, Ella Hieber, Emeric Hieber and Adler Hieber.
Private services will be held at a later date. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville is assisting the family with their arrangements.
