Anna Louise Hoerig, 82, of Republic, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at her residence.
Anna was born April 27, 1942, in Tiffin, to the late Cyril and Hilda (Sendelbach) Scherger. She married Patrick Hoerig at St. Nicholas, Frenchtown on April 4, 1964 and he survives in Republic.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Shattuck of Cunningham, TN, Anette (Dennis) Dull of Fostoria, Laura (Danny) Thomas of Lawton, OK, Catherine (Jim) O’Rorke of Tiffin, Patricia Nye of Tiffin, Daniel (Laura) Hoerig of Fostoria, Mary Hoerig of Sandusky, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two brothers, Eugene Scherger of Fostoria and Ronald Scherger of New Riegel, two sisters, Eileen Margraf of Tiffin and Donna Cajka of Bowling Green.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Gary Nye, a grandson-in-law, Michael Rossi, two brothers, Arthur and David Scherger and a sister, Alice Jones.
Anna was a homemaker, a mother of seven and a housekeeper at St. Francis Home. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown where she was the choir director. She was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and most currently St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a second grade CCD teacher for many years and was very involved with the kid’s school activities. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, swimming at the YMCA with her mother and sisters, travelling with JB Tours, especially casino trips and just spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services for Anna will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will then be from 10:30 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at Farewell Retreat cemetery in Republic.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
