Anne J. Goetz, 89, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in MetroHealth Hospital, Cleveland, after a brief illness and with family by her side.
Anne was born September 27, 1931 in Tiffin, to the late David and Eathyel (Eakin) Goetz.
Survivors include scores of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great- great nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Karl Goetz, infant sister Ruth Marie, Burton Goetz and Peria (Goetz) Schneider and two nieces.
Anne was a 1950 graduate of Columbian High School. She attended Heidelberg College and then earned her RN degree from Riverside Hospital School of Nursing, Toledo in 1957, followed by a BS degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida in 1958. In 1973 she earned an MS from Ohio State University. Anne practiced nursing in Tiffin and Florida. She was a nursing instructor at Flower Hospital School of Nursing, Toledo and in Sarasota, FL. She later was a professor of nursing technology at Marion Technical College, Marion, for about 20 years, retiring in 1992. Anne took great pleasure in joining reunions with her classmates and students.
From an early age Anne was a talented artist, working in oils, watercolors and pastels. In her later years she created elaborate greeting cards with folded paper designs. She enjoyed traveling and going to plays and concerts, as well as a challenging game of pinochle, mahjong or chicken foot. Anne pursued her lifelong love of learning through Elderhostel (Road Scholar) trips and classes at Terra State Community College. Anne was a member of St. John’s Ruth Circle and Allen Eiry Senior Center.
Anne was a devoted family member, interrupting her nursing career twice to care for her parents before their deaths and showering her love on many nieces and nephews, as well as their spouses, even down to the third generation. She was a friend to many, and a lifelong member of St. John’s UCC.
There will be a private family graveside service held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Greenlawn Cemetery. The funeral home will have the graveside service live on their Engle-Shook Funeral Home Facebook page for all to view.
