Charles R. Detterman

Charles R. Detterman, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, October 27, 2023, at Mercy Health –Tiffin Hospital.

Charles was born August 5, 1935, in Venice Twp. Seneca County, to the late Halcyon B. and Laura R. (Smith) Detterman.

Survivors include two brothers, Gerald W. (Donna) Detterman of Attica, Kenneth M. (Evalena) Detterman of Bloomville, a close friend, Steve Wagner of Bellevue, a brother-in-law, Kevin Rothhaar of Bucyrus, a sister-in-law, Mable Detterman of Bucyrus and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard E., three sisters, Bernice I. Price, Zelma L. Rothhaar and Patricia A.  Clark.

Charles was a 1953 graduate of Bloom Twp. High School, a United States Army Veteran serving from 1958-1960. He enjoyed woodworking, photography and trips to the Amish country with his brothers and sister. He worked at the Tiffin GE for 23 years as a setup man and later at American Armature in Tiffin, retiring in 1997.

Funeral services for Charles will be Wednesday November 1, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville with Pastor Tom Kagy officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
