Clyde “Mitch” Smith, 72, of Tiffin, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Clyde was born June 14, 1952, in Tiffin, to the late Lummer and Lola (Hicks) Smith. He married Catherine (Everhart) in Tiffin on January 5, 1985 and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include his children, Michelle (Mike) Kipps of Hanover, PA, Justin Smith of Tiffin, Brian Smith of Tiffin, Ashley (Gary) Sims of Bucyrus, a step-son, Rob LaChapelle of Toledo, four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, four brothers, Arthur “Muerl” Smith of Port Clinton, Jerry, Tom and Odell Smith all of Kentucky, three sisters, Rose “Sue” Griffis, Phyllis Ridner and Janie Perry all of Kentucky.
Clyde worked at Tiffin Metal Products. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but most of all loved spending time with his family. Clyde will be remembered for his ability to find a good deal.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Andrew Smith, two brothers, Archie Smith and Andrew Smith and a sister, Pearly Smith.
Funeral services for Clyde will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at Fairmont cemetery.
