Connie (Curlis) Campbell, born July 28, 1945 in Sycamore, Ohio, passed away on July 13, 2025 at The Elmwood at the Shawhan.
Connie is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Daryl Campbell and their children, Misty (Eric) Howland, and Casey (Andrew) Orth. She was a proud grandmother to Isabel, Riley, Gavin, Deacon and Charlotte. Connie was also survived by a brother, James “Van” Curlis along with many cherished cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Elizabeth “Betty” (Van Gundia) Curlis, and her brother, William “Bill” Curlis.
Connie was a graduate from Mohawk High School in Sycamore, Ohio and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Connie was a lifelong teacher outside of a few years in social work, and spent the majority of her career at Hopewell-Loudon Elementary School in Bascom, Ohio. Connie not only dedicated her time to her second grade students but also to many plays and musicals over her tenure.
Connie loved to spend summer days at the island in McGregor Bay, Ontario where she and Daryl built a home and memories for their family. She was a part of the church, flower club and quilting club along with days gardening, kayaking and watching the ‘sparkles’ every evening. Her children and grandchildren are grateful for the legacy she provided with lessons in driving the boat, picking the best blueberries and finding the right rock to sit while reading a book. We look forward to honoring Namma each year at Camp Bell.
The Campbell family is grateful for the support and love from family and friends during Connie’s journey.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made to the charity of your choice in Connie’s honor. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
