Cynthia Oberlander Obituary

Cynthia E. Oberlander, 67, of Republic, passed away Monday morning January 25, 2021, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

Cynthia was born July 21, 1953 in Bucyrus, to Thomas B. and Beatrice (Burger) Gernert. She married Mike Oberlander on September 2, 2003 in Tiffin, and he survives in Republic.

Other survivors include a sister, Sandra (Ron) Rau of Old Fort, a brother, Tom (Linda) Gernert of Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother. Gregory Gernert Sr.

Cynthia was a 1971 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. A member of the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, and a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Republic. She graduated from a nursing school in Missouri, and went on to practice nursing at the Cleveland Clinic, and at the Columbus Children’s Hospital.

A graveside service will be Friday, January 29, 2021, at 1:30 pm., at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.

Visitors are asked to please wear your masks and practice social distancing during the services. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
