David Spridgeon Obituary

David Charles Spridgeon, 60, died unexpectedly on Friday January 9th, 2026 at his residence in Tiffin, OH. Dave was born May 28, 1965 in Lima, Ohio to Patrica Goodnight and the late Charles Spridgeon. He was a proud resident of Tiffin, Ohio and was a dedicated public servant, entrepreneur, and community leader. His life was defined by service, leadership, and a deep commitment to family and community.

In 1983, Dave graduated from Lima Senior High School and earned his Eagle Scout during his senior year. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dave worked as the Manager and Group Store Director for Furrow Building Materials in Findlay and Lima where he was respected for his strong leadership and business acumen. His desire to give back to his community led him to become a volunteer firefighter with the Washington Township Fire Department in 1996, a role he proudly served for many years.

In September of 1996, Dave began a distinguished career with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer. He later served as a dispatcher and was promoted to road patrol in 2000. During his law enforcement career, Dave was instrumental in implementing the YIELD program and establishing the Explorers Post where he served as a leader and mentor to young people interested in public service. He was also one of the first school resource officers to serve Hancock County schools, playing a key role in strengthening relationships between students, schools, and law enforcement. In 2008, Dave began working at Findlay Municipal Court, where he served as a probation officer before later becoming the Clerk of Courts. In each position, he was known for his fairness and dedication to serving the public.

Dave was also deeply committed to education and community leadership. He served on the Arcadia School Board from 2005 to 2013, advocating tirelessly for students and staff. In 2012, he received the Ohio School Boards Association Award of Achievement in recognition for his outstanding service. That same year, he also served as the Northwest Region President, further demonstrating his leadership and commitment to education across Ohio. During this timeframe, Dave also coached midget football and later became a high school football referee.

An entrepreneur at heart, Dave pursued his vision for local business and community connection by co-founding The Bourbon Affair in Findlay, Ohio in 2015. In 2017, Dave's vision led him to Tiffin where he created The Renaissance of Tiffin. He expanded that vision with the launch of The Renaissance of Tiffin on Wheels in 2020, purchased Jolly’s in 2021, and later acquired the Deli of Frost Village in 2022. Dave also has spent several years as the Sales Executive for Classic Hits 96-7 WBVI. These ventures reflected his passion for bringing people together and supporting local communities.

Dave was an avid Ohio State Buckeye, Cleveland Guardian, and Cincinnati Bengals fan.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Charles Spridgeon; his stepfather, Scott Goodnight; his stepmother, Linda Spridgeon; and his nephew, Jacob Spridgeon.
