Dorothy (Dottie) I. Veres, 81, of Tiffin, went home to meet her beloved Savior on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Dottie was born September 20, 1944, in Fostoria, to the late Chester and Dorothy (Ish) Law. She attended Fostoria High School where she met the love of her life, Michael (Mick) Veres. These high school sweethearts married on July 25, 1964 and enjoyed 58 years together prior to Mick's passing. God was the center of their union and they never fell out of love.
Dottie is survived by her children, Thomas Veres of Fostoria, Tracy Thom of Tiffin and James (Lori) Veres of Republic; six grandchildren, Audrie, Tiarah, Colt, Brayli, Naleena and Abigail; seven great-grandchildren; and two beloved pets Gracie and Jack. She was the tenth and youngest child with her siblings all predeceasing her.
Dottie was a wonderful homemaker, had the gift of hospitality and was generous helping others in need. In her younger years she did factory work and later did personal caretaking and babysitting, truly loving on each one as if they were family. She and Mick shared many years camping, fishing and boating. As a born again Christ follower, she was amazed at the love of her Heavenly Father and so looked forward to meeting Him. She desired others to have this same hope, so she shared a simple message with everyone she met, "We are all sinners, that sin does not have to separate us from God. His son, Jesus, came to Earth to die for our sins. If we accept that gift, ask for forgiveness and allow him to lead our life, we too can enjoy an eternal future with Him."
The family acknowledges Bridge Hospice of Findlay, with special thanks to nurse Michelle. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice of Findlay or The Salvation Army of Tiffin.
Dottie's memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin (reminder turn clocks back 1 hour). A private burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery at a later date.
