Doyle J. Mason, 91, of Bettsville, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
Doyle was born April 25, 1934, in Republic, to the late Jennings and Letha (Moyer) Mason. He married Betty (Zeller) in Fostoria, on March 11, 1961 and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2016.
Survivors include his children, Perry (Marlene) Mason, Rex (Lorena) Mason both of Fremont, Jay (Donna) Mason of Republic, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Dwight Mason of Republic.
Doyle worked at Basic Refractories and later retired from Chemi-Trol Chemical Company in Fremont. He was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge and enjoyed squirrel hunting, square dancing, polka music, playing euchre and was a huge World War II historian. Doyle was a United States Army Veteran serving during Korea era as a Tank Crew Member.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene Mason, a grandson, Matthew Mason and a great-grandson, Zane Kohlenberg.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Ohio Veterans Home for their outstanding care of Doyle during this difficult time.
Funeral services for Doyle will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Military Rites being rendered by the Untied Veterans Council. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at St. Jacob’s cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky.
