Dr. Ernest Crede Hiestand

Dr. Ernest Crede Hiestand, 96, of Old Fort, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Valley View Health Center in Fremont.

Crede was born March 29, 1928, in Bellevue, to the late Ernest and Louise (Hilty) Hiestand. He married Dorothiann (Unaska) in Tarentum, PA, on June 23, 1957. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years, and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2005.

Survivors include his three sons, Dr. Daniel (Janet) Hiestand of Powell, Dr. John Joseph (Brenda) Hiestand of Fremont, Drs. Matthew Hiestand and Lori Mertes-Hiestand, seven grandchildren, Steven, Erin, David, Jacob, Rachel, Katie, Sarah and two great-grandchildren, Eloise and James, a brother, Frank (Jeri) Hiestand of Westerville and a sister, Anne Lavo of Shreveport, LA.

Crede worked as a Board Certified Doctor in Family Practice. He was a member of Old Fort Church, Old Fort Lions Club, and the former President of Old Fort School Board. Crede was a proud 1946 graduate of Old Fort High School, the College of Wooster and the Ohio State University College of Medicine.

The family would like to thank ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Elmwood Assisted Living, Valley View Skilled Nursing, Dr. David DeFrance, Connie Jeanette, and the entire Old Fort Community.

Funeral services for Crede will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Pastor Marc Quinter officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort.
