Eileen A. Burnside, 75, of rural Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Eileen was born July 29, 1948 in Tiffin, to the late Alfred and Mildred (Williams) Lucius, Sr. She married Gerald Burnside on July 17, 1971 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Burnside of Tiffin, son, Duane (Jennifer) Burnside of Fairfield Twp., grandchildren, Hannah and Douglas Burnside, two brothers, Alfred “Sonny” Lucius Jr. of Apple Creek and Donald (Fran) Lucius of Kansas, Ohio, a brother-in-law, Terry Curry, sisters-in-law, Virginia (Robert) Sherman and Sharon Burnside all of Tiffin. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dan (Tracy) Franklin, Debra (Jeff) Garber, Susan (Mike) Tyrpak, Philip (Tina) Burnside, David (Nilda) Burnside, Daniel (Judi) Sherman, Rebecca Clouse; great- nieces and nephews, Dan Franklin, Raeanna Garber, Cory Welter, Eric Welter, Stephanie (Andrew) Heck, Kaleb (KaLee) Sherman, Kaitlin Sherman, Kenadie Sherman, James Clouse, Elizabeth Clouse, Gracie Clouse and Ava Clouse, great-great nieces, Kylee and Adrianna Welter and many cousins.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Anthony (Tony) Lucius and a sister, Phyllis Curry.
Eileen was 1966 graduate of New Riegel High School and was valedictorian of her class. She worked at General Electric and retired from Ameriwood in Tiffin. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved reading and cooking.
Funeral services for Eileen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Rev. Karsten Snitker officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Tuesday, at Greenlawn cemetery.
