Elaine Hurt

Elaine Hurt, 83, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

Elaine was born Montgomery, KY on September 8, 1942, to the late Jasper and Freda (Combs) Ritchie. She married Donald Hurt in Kentucky on April 3, 1958 and he preceded her in death February 24, 2019.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Bill Cardwell of Tiffin, four grandchildren, Debra (Bob Somers) Enke of Tiffin, Nichole “Tiny” (Adam) Brown of Tiffin, Matthew (Kristine Ward) Clinard of Bucyrus, William “Billy” Cardwell IV of Tiffin, fourteen great-grandchildren, thirty-nine great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Jack Ritchie of Tiffin, sister, Bess (Paul) Tyree of Tiffin sisters-in-law, Mildred Ritchie of Bloomville, Carol Ritchie of Tiffin, and Bev Ritchie of Tiffin.

Elaine worked in Home Health. She loved to sing old country music, watch ball games and anything she could do to make her family happy. Elaine loved to spoil her grand dogs, Buddy, Diva “Mitsie”.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Donna “Cheryl” (Jim) Keller, Freda Cardwell, brothers, Bobby, Coy, Magoo Ritchie, and Jay Ritchie, and a sister, Mintha “Mint” (Mike) Pryor.

Graveside services for Elaine will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Fairmont cemetery. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
