Eva "Penny" L. Martinez

Penny Martinez, 98, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont.

Penny was born December 18, 1924, in Nevada, OH, to the late John and Gail (DeJean) William. She married Raymond Platt and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children Randy (Melody) Platt of FL and Gail (Rick) Bickelhaupt of Oak Harbor, thirteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and loved ones.

Penny dedicated her life to serving others as an administrator at Riverview Nursing Home and eventually built Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Fostoria and served as administrator for 14 years. She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church and former member of the Fostoria Country Club. Penny spent her time playing cards and board games with her friends, eating out, and shopping. Her most precious time spent was time with family and friends.

Penny was preceded in death by her daughter Pam Bustamante and brother Gene Hill.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, 1:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church in Oak Harbor, OH. Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. No burial will be held at this time. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
