Gregory J. Beat, 70, of Attica, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at The Cleveland Clinic.
Greg was born in Fostoria, on May 9, 1956 to the late Harold and Mercedes (Graber) Beat. He married Opal (Moffett) in Bellevue on April 12, 1980 and she survives in Attica.
Survivors include his children, Jason (Erin) Beat of Attica, Melinda (Amanda Butcher) Beat of Parma, Jennifer (Stephen) Work of Sandusky, five granddaughters, a brother, Mark (Cindy) Beat of Attica two sisters, Christine (Dick) Hillman and Charlene (Fred) Bono both of Arizona.
Greg worked as a truck driver and later retired from Bunge North American the Soy Bean Plant in Bellevue. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica Knight of Columbus, Bellevue VFW and Eagles and he also enjoyed deer hunting and just being outdoors. Greg was a 1974 graduate of Seneca East High School.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Col. Anthony “Tony” and Jeffrey Beat and a sister, Marlene Beat.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph P. Joseph officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to the Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. Burial will be held at a later date at Attica Venice cemetery.
