Herbert Shade, 90 of Republic, passed away Thursday afternoon November 19, 2020, at his home.
Herbert was born March 1, 1930 in Willard, to Earl and Anna (Ebinger) Shade. He married Marilyn Roberts on June 12, 1954, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington and she survives in Republic.
Other survivors include two sons, Donald and Russell Shade both of Bloomville, one daughter, Linda Shade of Hoytville, eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Malinda) Carter, Matthew Carter, Jennifer Shade, Joshua (Jill) Shade, Beth (Luke) Hay, Sarah (Ethan Barker) Shade, Michala (Dan Holmer) Shade, Ethan (Halie Parrott) Shade, eight great-grandchildren, Faeth Smith, Ethyn Smith, Aliyah Carter, Isaiah Martinez, Elijah Martinez, Mya Holmer, Kase Holmer, and Elina Hay, a sister, Viola Snook of Willard, and a brother, Robert (Carol) Shade of Willard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Danny Shade, a granddaughter, Ashley Carter, two great-grandsons, Todd and Hunter Johnson, four brothers, Ernest, Charles, Willard, and Dalton Shade, two sisters, Mildred Sweet and Evelyn Baxter.
Herb was a 1948 graduate of Willard High School, a US Army Korean Conflict veteran. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, Attica American Legion Post #260, and a life member of the Green Springs VFW Post # 6067. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years, retiring in 1987.
A memorial service for Herbert will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday December 5, 2020, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, with Pastor Ed Hunker officiating. Burial will follow at Attica-Venice Cemetery in Attica. The Attica American Legion Post #260 will have conducted military graveside services.
A masked walk through visitation for family and friends and social distancing will be required for services and visitation from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Saturday December 5, 2020 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
