Janet M. Nickel

Janet M. Nickel, 93, of Tiffin, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

Janet was born on December 22, 1929 in Seneca County, to the late Lester and Helen (Baker) Hade. She married Richard K. Nickel in Toledo on November 24, 1973 and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2012.

Janet is survived by her brother, Keith Hade of Arlington, two nieces, Alicia (Joaquin) Ruiz of Toledo and Kim (Paul) Inniger of Bluffton, three step-sons, James, Charles and Larry Nickel.

Janet worked as a secretary at Basic Refractories and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Tiffin. She was a 1947 graduate of Old Fort High School and was also a member of Daughters of America and the Tiffin Business & Professional Women’s Club.

Funeral services for Janet will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Pastor Audra Ferguson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Tuesday, at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort.
