Jean Louise Covert, 99, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 30, 2026 at The Willows at Tiffin.
Jean was born on May 19, 1926 in Convoy, Ohio, to the late Wyler and Edith (Mollenkopf) Swick. She married Norman Covert in Convoy on August 15, 1948, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Diane (Rod) Gerstenberger of Lexington, Ohio, Beth (Larry Scharf) Covert of Powell Butte, Oregon, Stephen Covert of Columbus, Ohio, Elaine Covert of Kalamazoo, Michigan, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Jean was a 1948 graduate of Bowling Green State University. During her time there, she earned her B.A. in Home Economics and minored in Chemistry. She spent her career teaching at various Seneca County schools, and most recently, Mohawk Local Schools in Sycamore, Ohio.
Jean was a devout member of the First Lutheran Church in Tiffin, where she also enjoyed her time on the quilting guild. Jean also loved to travel with her husband, Norman. They often found themselves in Marco Island, Florida, but would travel anywhere they had the chance. Jean was also a FHA advisor during her time at Mohawk Local Schools, enjoyed skiing, and loved to spend time with all of her grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Jane Good, Judy Good, and Norma Adam.
There will be no funeral services held for Jean at this time. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.
