Jean Ann DeTray, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on March 2, 2025, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on October 11, 1932, in Clinton Township, Ohio, to John William and Glen Della (Corthell) Bastian. On August 17, 1957, she married Paul Lewis DeTray at Washington Street Methodist Church in Tiffin. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2017, just shy of their 60th anniversary.
Jean is survived by her children, Douglas (Kelly) DeTray of Tiffin, Chris (Cynthia) DeTray of Kyle, TX, and Paula (Terry) Lee of Tiffin. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Paul (Melissa) DeTray of Youngsville, NC, Faye DeTray of Toledo, Nicholas (Melanie) Birch of Fostoria, Anthony (Ashley) Birch of Gibsonton, FL, Austin and Caitlyn DeTray of Kyle, TX. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Paige Scranton and Blessing Hayes of Toledo, Rogan and Davis Birch of Gibsonton, FL, as well as one great-great-grandchild, Laylanii Hague of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Mark Birch, a brother, John Bastian, a sister-in-law, Irma Bastian, and two grandchildren.
Jean graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1950 and spent her entire life in the Tiffin area, apart from a brief time in Los Angeles, CA. She enjoyed gathering with her former classmates to reminisce over meals and especially cherished time spent with her family. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
