Jerald Edward Wheatley, 97, of Tiffin, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at his residence.
Jerald was born in New Washington, OH, on April 11, 1926, to the late Vernon R. and Lillian (Strausbaugh) Wheatley. He married Beverly J. (Houk) on June 14, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Wheatley of Tiffin, a daughter, Carol L. Coffman of Tiffin, a brother, Richard Wheatley of Fresno, CA, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jerald served two years in the United States Navy during WWII including seven months in the Philippines. Jerald was a foreman at the Zoller casting company for 15 years and an installer for Tiffin Scenic Studios for 24 years. He was a past master of Tiffin Masonic Lodge #77, a member of the following Masonic Bodies, Chapter, Council and Commandery, he was the president of the Seneca County Genealogical Society for 5 years, a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and was a 1944 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Wheatley, son-in-law, James Coffman, a brother, Carl Wheatley and a sister, Thelma Dotson.
There will be a memorial service held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2024 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Clayton Bailey officiating. Burial will be held at Greenlawn cemetery at a later date. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
