Obituary

John W. Birch, 89 of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

John was born June 5, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Charles and Zula Fern (Krupp) Birch. He married Elizabeth (Biller) in Tiffin on December 5, 1991 and she resides in Tiffin.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Groves of Fostoria, three step-children, Robert Edwards of GA, Ruth Edwards of Marion, David Edwards of KY and nine grandchildren.

John retired as a custodian from Heidelberg University. He enjoyed watching OSU football and also enjoyed attending all area football games. John was a United States Army Veteran and also a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Robbie Huff, two brothers, James and Howard Birch and two sisters, Betty and Eileen Birch.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Fairmont cemetery with Pastor Chad Cook officiating and military rites will be rendered by the United Veterans Council. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
