John Covert, 87, of Attica, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 19, 2024 at his home.
John was the youngest of four children, born on November 18, 1936 to the late Frank and Frieda (Baitrick) Covert and the only child born in the Willard Hospital.
John was married twice and is survived by his present wife, Monica (Fell) Covert who he married on September 4, 1976. John had no children but is survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-laws on his wife’s side.
John worked at Zehners Meat Packing Company in Bellevue till they closed their doors. He then went to work for North Central Electric Co-Op in Attica till he retired.
He was a volunteer Fireman for Attica in his younger years. John’s main hobby was taking pictures at weddings and family parties and anything that required pictures in and around the Attica area. John loved singing in the choir at First Baptist Church in Attica and all of the church socials and community services for the combined services of the church’s of Attica.
The family would like to give thanks to John’s nephew, Joel Featheringill, his next door neighbor, Tom Corbin and especially to other neighbors, Jim and Joyce Sampson who helped daily get John ready for the day and nights and also Stein Hospice out of Sandusky for all their total care and help and phone calls.
There will be a memorial service held for John on July 19, 2024, 11:00 am at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home. There will be a visitation for family and friends at 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the memorial service at Omar cemetery in Attica. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local church community fund or to the Attica Food Pantry.
