John DeRan III Obituary

John Francis “Jack” DeRan III, 86, of Fremont, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his residence.

Jack was born June 17, 1939, in Fremont, to the late John Francis Jr. and Alberta Isabel (Hade) DeRan. He married Patricia Ann (Young) DeRan in Albany, Oregon on November 18, 1960 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2022.

Survivors include his children, John Francis (Cindy) DeRan IV of Fremont, Jennifer Lynn (Kevin Kirkpatrick) DeRan of Fostoria, nine grandchildren, John (Ashli) Keller, Jason (Elizabeth) Keller, Austin (Shilo) Kirkpatrick, Veronica Kirkpatrick, Kristen (Dylan West) DeRan, Kaitlyn (Brad) Gugliotta, Sara Bell, Eric Bell and John DeRan V, five great-grandchildren, and a brother, Charles Eugene DeRan of Placentia, California.

 Jack was a lifelong farmer and a retired United States Air Force Veteran. Jack was a 1957 graduate of Old Fort High School. He enjoyed spending time on the Sandusky River at Riverfront Marina in Fremont, attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events, and his Wednesday “Union Meetings” with the Keller Boys.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Nancy Louise Harrison.

There will be private family services held at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort with Military services being rendered by the United Veterans Council. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
