Joseph A. Perna, 88, of Tiffin, passed away at 2:05 a.m., on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin.
Joe was born on January 26, 1933 in Tiffin, to the late Leonard Sr. and Vita (Fortunato) Perna. He married Carolyn (Hart) at St. Mary's Catholic Church on February 5, 1966 and she preceded him in death on June 14, 1980.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Perna, a daughter, Sandri Stahl both of Tiffin, three grandchildren, Sara Griffin, Anthony Stahl, Brooke Perna and Riley Perna, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Levi Baker and Owen Baker, four brothers, John (Josephine) Perna of Tiffin, Frank (Malinda) Perna of Tiffin, Leonard Jr. (Paula) Perna of Tiffin, Michael (Shirley) Perna of Cadillac, MI, six sisters, Mary Reid of Tiffin, Lucy (Barry) Wade of Tiffin, Jeannie (Larry) Adelsperger of Tiffin, Margie Hodges of Tiffin, Dolores (Michael) Herbert of Tiffin and Nattie Kistler of Georgetown, OH. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Joe retired from Clyde Whirlpool and was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and a United States Navy Veteran serving during Korea. Joe was an avid golfer and a Ohio State Buckeye Fan.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carolyn, daughter-in-law, Becky Perna, son-in-law, David Stahl, two sisters, Carmie Fabrizio and Connie Corrado, four brother-in-laws, Robert "Bo" Reid, Tom Corrado and Fred Fabrizio and Fred Hodges, two nephews, Adam Perna and Terry Hunter and a great-nephew, Nick Hunter.
Funeral services for Joe will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery where military rites will be rendered by the United Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carmie Fabrizio Scholarship Fund or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
