Karen M. Holman, 78, of Tiffin and former Bloomville resident, passed away Sunday morning October 25, 2020, at the Willows at Tiffin.
Karen was born April 4, 1942 in Tiffin, to the late Leonard Harlow and Estella Pauline (Beiler) Farr. She married Willard Holman on August 24, 1963 in Bloomville and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi (Fred) Hade of Tiffin, two grandchildren, Lex Hade of Columbus and Wyatt Holman of Attica, a brother, Leonard “Bum” (Barb) Farr of Bloomville, three sisters-in-law, Lois Frankart, Martha (David) Smith both of Bloomville, Alta (Ed) Beard of Tiffin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willy, a son, Scott Holman and a sister, Jean King.
Karen graduated from Bloomville High School class of 1960 and attended Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She spent most of her carrier teaching math at the Clyde-Green Springs School District and retiring in 1988 at 34 years.
Karen was an extremely social and outgoing person. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Allen Eiry Center, enjoyed sharing many good memories with Susie and the other ladies of “Seniors on the Go” and spent Monday nights at the Tiffin Moose with family and friends.
Karen was an avid reader and was a frequent visitor of the Bloomville Library. She loved camping particularly at October Hills campground in Loudonville, OH. She also enjoyed shopping , dog sitting , vacationing in Myrtle Beach with friends and most of all spending time with her family and friends, especially her two grandchildren. Our mother and grandma lived her life with perseverance and courage each and every day and will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the many people that helped take care of Karen especially Heartland Hospice and the Willows of Tiffin.
Funeral services for Karen will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Bloomville United Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Kagy officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Wednesday; from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville is assisting the family with their arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Bloomville United Church of Christ, the Bliss Memorial Library in Bloomville or to the Willows of Tiffin.
