Madelyn Smith Obituary

Madelyn Louise Smith of Tiffin passed away Wednesday May 15, 2024 at the Courtyard at Tiffin.  Madelyn was born on February 1, 1927 in Willard, Ohio to the late Bert and Gladys (Hough) Robinson.

She married Gilbert Smith on April 24, 1949 in Greenup, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother Donald and a grandson, Kenneth Robert Augsburger Jr.

Survivors include daughters, Karen Augsburger of Fostoria, Roberta (Ed) Fatzinger of Tiffin, a son, Brian (Mary) Smith of Tiffin, five grandchildren, Jerrod (Christina) Augsburger of Fostoria, Kiesha (Brendon) of Ruth Avon Lake, Kaleigh (Brett) Krupp of Tiffin, Tate (Erin) Smith Columbus, and Blaine Smith of Chicago, Illinois.  Great grandchildren are Lincoln Augsburger, Adelayde and Hayes Ruth, Beckett and Arden Krupp and Noah Weimerskirch.

Madelyn was a very active, creative lady, she and Gib enjoyed golf in several leagues at Clinton Height Golf Course. She was a member of several Gay Lane's bowling leagues in the winter months.  Her love of doll collecting and attending auctions was known by many.  She was an active member of the Sandusky River Valley Doll Club and enjoyed repairing and outfitting her collection to the end.  Her artistic talents began at Willard High School and continued with the old Tiffin Art Club.  Early paintings, ceramic pieces and carvings are treasured by the family. The most treasured are her carved "applehead" dolls.  As a member of Allen Eiry Senior Center she enjoyed euchre with friends and continued her card playing with new friends at the Courtyard.  She was a member of Trinity UCC in Tiffin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Empire, 138 S Washington St. Tiffin on June 1, 2024 from 1-3 pm.  All friends and family are invited. There will be a private burial at a later date for immediate family.

The family would like to thank the Staff at the Courtyard at Tiffin for taking wonderful care of Madelyn. Memorials may be sent to Trinity United Church of Christ, Allen Eiry Senior Center or Courtyard at Tiffin Activity Department.
