Margaret A. Pope, 78, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Coincidentally, her mother passed away on the same day on September 22, 1994. With her strong faith in the Lord and the love she shared with her family, she bravely confronted and fought her 15-year health battle.
Margaret was born on September 29, 1942, in Fostoria, to the late Harold Sr. and Doris (Leathers) Klopp. She married Dalton Pope on June 23, 1963 at Washington Street United Methodist Church, and he survives.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jill (Kenneth) Hossler of Tiffin, Diana Diels of Bay View and Molly (Brent) Riley of Tiffin, six grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Hossler, Dillon (Angie) Bogner, Dalton Diels, Hayden and Kale Riley, two twin great-grandchildren, Mya and Rhett Bogner, two brothers, Harold Jr. (Eunice) Klopp of Lexington, OH and Douglas (Meg) Klopp of Perrysburg, a sister-in-law, Connie Klopp of Loves Park, IL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was a retired music and substitute teacher for many years. She was an accomplished organist and pianist for over 50 years at Zion United Church of Christ, Salem United Methodist Church in Bettsville and Washington Street United Methodist Church in Tiffin. She was also a volunteer EMT for Bettsville EMS, Bettsville Fire Department women's auxiliary and a Girl Scout Leader. Margaret was a 1960 graduate of Bettsville High School and a 1964 graduate of Heidelberg College where she majored in Music Education.
Margaret and her husband traveled to many places around the world. She played the organ and piano for many weddings, funerals and different social events. She organized and participated in many Bettsville community events and parades and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Klopp and a half-sister, Isabel Thomson.
At Margaret’s request, a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at her lifelong family farm at 2123 W. County Road 61, Tiffin, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. For those unable to attend the memorial service, a time of fellowship for family and friends will also be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the family farm. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
