Marlene Gibson Obituary

Marlene A. Gibson, 79, of Tiffin, passed away surrounded by love in the presence of her family on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Marlene was born December 30, 1944, in Tiffin, to the late William H. and Doris C. Kraft. As a child she loved music and was an accomplished pianist. When she was not practicing the piano, she loved the water, especially swimming and water skiing with her sister, Kathleen. That love continued throughout her life, and she spent time every summer near and on Lake Erie. Her children and grandchildren continue the tradition of gathering at the lake. She was a 1963 graduate of Calvert High School and after graduation attended Providence School of Nursing in Sandusky, OH.

Marlene worked for more than four decades in healthcare. She was a skilled nurse whose patients appreciated her gentle and patient caregiving. She spent her nursing career in Tiffin, retiring from St. Francis Home.

She married David L. Gibson Sr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiffin on September 2, 1967, and the two were excited to begin their life together. During their nearly fifty-seven year marriage, their focus was on their three children. Marlene was a gentle and kind wife and mother whose legacy is that her family always knew they were loved unconditionally.

In addition to her husband, David, she is also survived by her children: Leslie (Tim) Moore, David (Charlene Watkins) Gibson Jr., Eric (Lisa Kockentiet) Gibson, two grandchildren, Joey and Matty, her sister, Kathleen (Ralph) Berger, her brother-in-law, Milton (Jeanette) Gibson, and many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a generous spirit, wonderful mother, and compassionate person.

In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a service. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Humane Society or Stein Hospice.
