Mary Garn Obituary

Mary Sue Garn, 87, of Bettsville, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at her residence.

Sue was born on March 30, 1933 in Bettsville, to the late Benjamin and Sally (Booker) Jeanette. She married Paul W. Garn in Greenup, KY on January 26, 1952.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Paul W. Garn of Bettsville, four children, Vicki (David) Schade of Bettsville, Diane (Jim) Fruchey of Kansas, OH, Paul Jr. (Angie) Garn of Bettsville, Lisa (Randy) Lippert of Green Springs, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Phyllis Eckard of Marion, a sister-in-law, Alice Jeanette of Fremont and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sue was a homemaker who loved her cats, enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and most of all spending time with her many grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to trucker and nephew, Jim Gates, who made Sue’s day with a wave and a smile each time he drove by her home and to Heartland Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Sue.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, Jerry, Craig, and Toby, four brothers, Joseph, Richard, Robert and Donald Jeanette and a sister, Darlene Nighswander.

There will be a private family graveside service held at Pleasant Union cemetery. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Bettsville is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society or to Heartland Hospice.
