Mary Linda Unger, 83, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Linda was born in Coalport, PA on March 2, 1943, to the late James Edward and Alberta Mae (Thompson) Wheeler. She married James A. Unger in Tiffin on June 6, 1964 and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2020.
Survivors include her son, James Unger of Fremont, a daughter, Chris (Paul) Walsh of WI, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way and a brother, Ed (Linda) Wheeler of NC.
Linda was the owner/operator of Amish Country Deli in Fremont and a print shop in Tiffin. Linda also worked as a printer for Terra Community College and was a member of Victory Church in Fremont. Linda earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Business from Tiffin University. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and praying for others. Linda was very hard to buy anything for, and if you asked her what she collected she would tell you she collected DUST.
Linda was preceded in death by her brother, David Wheeler and a sister, Diana Wagner.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026 at Victory Church in Fremont with Pastors Bryan and Scott Robles officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at Bethel cemetery in McCutchenville. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Church in Fremont.
