Mary Margaret (Widman) Watson, 69, of Tiffin, Ohio passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on February 19, 2024 after a brief illness. Mary was born in Norwalk, Ohio on July 28, 1954 to George and MaryRose (Cooper) Widman. Mary was a 1972 graduate of Norwalk High School and a 1975 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing, Toledo, Ohio. Mary wed Dean Steven Watson on July 3, 1976, the year of the bicentennial, and they have resided in Tiffin ever since as members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mary is the proud mother of four children, Sarah (Steve) Newland, Seth (Erin) Watson, Anna (Lloyd) Hudson and Marta (Tyler) Yazrombek and the devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Silas, Carter, Pierce, Augustus, Maxwell and Cecily. Mary will be missed by her loving siblings Joseph (Barb) Widman of Norwalk, Ruthann Stocker of Norwalk, William (Carrie) Widman of St. Marys and Christopher (Joni) Widman of Tiffin. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved younger brother Mark.
Mary spent 45 years of service in nursing through Mercy Hospital of Tiffin and Good Shepherd Home of Fostoria. Mary was a dedicated Obstetrics and Wound Clinic nurse as well as an STNA and Dementia trainer. Many summers spent and memories made as a camp nurse at Bryn Mawr Camp of Honesdale, PA. She had an extreme passion for the caring of others as well as nursing education for the next generation of caregivers.
One of her most favorite hobbies included sitting on her porch in the sunshine enjoying a good book. If not at her children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events, Mary could be found in her vegetable and flower gardens, at a local craft show or farmers’ market, or traveling throughout this country and the world with her husband and their good friends. Every Sunday would be spent with her mother and extended family celebrating with good food, laughter and an occasional game of wiffleball. She cherished family trips to Disney World, Cedar Point and Valley Beach with her siblings, nieces and nephews. At any point an adventure was never too far away. She loved to have music in the house as well as making many memories cooking and baking with her children. She was the friend you always wanted and the sister you didn’t want to live without.
Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her and was a very special light in everyone’s lives. Well done, good and faithful servant.
