Michael Gobs Obituary

Michael D. “Mike” Gobs, 62, of Melmore, formerly of Sycamore or McCutchenville according to him because he lived closer to Scutch then Sycamore, passed away at his place of residence Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Mike was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to John Burt “Jack” Gobs Sr. & Shirley Lou (Yates) Gobs. He married and was later divorced by Kelli L (Ladd Cook) on December 31, 1983.

Mike’s survivors include his three daughters, Jacklyn (Dan) Bartolo of Tiffin, Roxanne (Grant) Hess of Bascom, and Mia Gobs of Tiffin, six grandchildren, Claire, Juliette, and Benjamin Bartolo, Kinley and Abram Vanover, and Boone Hess, two brothers, John “Burt” (Barb) Gobs of Sycamore, Gordon Gobs of Drums, PA, two sisters, Chris (Ron) Trott of Republic, Karen (Ed) Dennis of New Riegel, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Gobs and niece, Melanie Trott.

He graduated in 1980 from Mohawk High School. Throughout his life he did a little bit of everything from landscaping/tree trimming with his good buddies, participating in horticulture activities, taking care of animals at the humane society of Tiffin and working on semi’s as a diesel mechanic. He was a recovering alcoholic and addict, struggling with those issues for most of his life. He used those struggles to help other people get and stay sober and clean. Most people who knew him would say he had a fiery personality and enjoyed being the life of the party. He was always a good listener, but was not afraid to tell you like it was. He loved his daughters more than anything in the best way he knew how. They will never forget coming home to a blow up pool in their kitchen for Christmas break, bubble parties in the summer in the pool and tent camping in Pennsylvania, which is an awful idea, and driving around the mountains in PA looking for bears.

There will be a private celebration of life for family and friends at a later date. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.

May everyone who knew him always remember, “Who let the dogs out?”
