Philip Clair Stansbery, 83, of Tiffin, passed away April 30, 2026 at Mercy Health —St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
Philip was born November 29, 1942, in Cincinnati. He married Martha (Taylor) Stansbery and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Philip Messersmith, and numerous cousins.
Philip worked on neon signs in Lima throughout his career. He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2858 in Tiffin and also enjoyed watching the news. Philip was most of all a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He served his country from 1963 to 1970 and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Martha.
There will be a private graveside service held at Dunkirk Cemetery at a later date. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
