Rev. James L. Hoffman, 87, of Tiffin, entered into heaven with his Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Elmwood at the Shawhan in Tiffin.
James was born April 7, 1938, in Tiffin, to the late Ervin and Mable (Biller) Hoffman. He married Polly (Williams) in Tiffin on August 30, 1960.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Polly of Tiffin, son, James Jr. (Angela) Hoffman of Delaware, Ohio, and eight grandchildren.
James worked as a Baptist Pastor and at National Machinery for 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. James enjoyed collecting John Deere Tractors, mowing neighbor’s yards, and serving at many churches as Pastor, including Auburn Baptist in Shelby, OH and Attica Baptist Church, New Covent Church in Johnstown, OH and Crossroads Baptist Church in Erie, PA. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Christian Bible College and Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts.
James was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Hoffman, granddaughter, Taylor Louise Hoffman, brothers, Larry and Robert Hoffman and three sisters, Vonda Hoover, Ruth Brown and Judy Romanowski.
Funeral services for James will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2026 at United Baptist Church in Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at Fairmont cemetery. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
