Reva L. Mason passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin, Ohio at the age of 96. She was surrounded by her family as she passed from this world. Reva will once again be reunited with the love of her life, Gene. They shared 73 wonderful years together.
Reva was born January 19, 1929 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Herbert and Berneice (Burks) Dawson. She married Eugene D. Mason on February 9, 1947 in Adams Twp., Seneca County. She is survived by two of her sons, Gary (Pam) Mason of Tiffin and Dan (Ollietta) Mason of Tiffin, a daughter-in-law, Kellie Mason, twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Alice Owens (Dawson) of Willard.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene; her son, Ron Mason; sisters, Opal Schubert and Dolores Hopple, brother, Daryl Dawson, sisters-in-law, Irene and Betty Mason, brothers-in-law, Loyal Hopple and Robert Owens; and granddaughter, Sharon Mason.
Reva enjoyed going out to the Moose Club to dance the night away, playing BINGO and playing cards with friends and traveling together with Eugene and her family. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing (even though she wouldn’t touch the worm) and it always seemed like she had the biggest fish. She was a homemaker and everyone enjoyed her meals and the multiple desserts that she would make, especially her butterscotch cookies. Prior to living at St. Francis, she enjoyed watching baseball on TV, Price Is Right (with Bob Barker) and Wheel of Fortune. Reva was blessed with a green thumb and had the most beautiful roses. If it was green – then it needed Miracle Grow.
Reva attended school in Republic and that is where she met Gene while riding the bus to school. She worked outside the home for a short time. She devoted her life to Gene and her three little boys.
Prior to moving to Tiffin, Reva was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Republic. She served as the Parish’s Treasurer. Reva had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing all the old time hymns. Her and her sisters sang on the radio on many county fairs. They were known as the Dawson Sisters.
The family would like to thank Southern Hospice, the friendly and compassionate staff of St. Francis Home and the Chiara unit staff for her excellent care where she called home. They loved her smile and her friendly greeting to everyone who came near.
Funeral services for Reva will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be on Friday July 18, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Jacob’s cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home or Southern Hospice.
