Richard A. Bonham 87, of Tiffin, passed away Monday March 22, 2021, at 1:35 pm. surrounded by his family at his residence in Tiffin.
He was born July 25, 1933 in Delaware County Ohio, to James W. and Leah (Main) Bonham. He married Sharon E. Tallman on November 17, 1956 in Attica, and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include, a son Richard A. “Rick” Bonham II of Tiffin, a daughter, Tracie L. (Bonham) Gilchrist of Tiffin, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister, Paula E. (Bonham) Smith of Bloomville, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Tim E. Bonham, a son-in-law, Timothy J. Gilchrist Sr., five brothers, James, Robert, Dennis, Elwin, and Gerald Bonham, and two sisters, Nellie Leah Bonham Vick and Dorothy Donnabell Bonham Ohl.
Richard worked at Tiffin Hardware for 29 years retiring in 1996. He was known as the hardware man.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Scipio-Republic High School. He was a US Navy Korean Conflict Veteran, a member of the Tiffin VFW, the Tiffin Eagles, and former Tiffin Moose member. He loved playing the harmonica, singing, and calling square dances in the Ramblingman Band.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, March 26, 2021, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home, 135 North Washington Street in Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will also be Friday, March 26, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be at a later date at Seneca Memory Gardens in Tiffin.
