God received another angel! Richard "Dick" Heilman, 85, of Old Fort, passed away at 11:47 a.m., on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Elmwood Living & Skilled Nursing Home in Fremont.
Dick was born in Fostoria, on May 28, 1935 to the late Alvin and Marian (Gillmor) Heilman. He married Patricia (Hammer) on December 4, 1954 and they later divorced.
Dick is survived by his brother, Edward Heilman, eleven children, Pam Whitman, Dominick (Cindy) Heilman, Peter (Sherrill) Heilman, Lucy (Paul) Kutscher, Paul (Denise) Heilman, Dennis Heilman, David Heilman, Kent (Erin) Heilman, Jennifer Guttenberger, Matt (Anna) Heilman and Andrew Heilman. Dick is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Christa Heilman, two son-in-laws, Keith Whitman and Gregg Guttenberger and a grandson, Baron Guttenberger.
Dick was a loving father who liked telling jokes, playing cards and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick was a truck driver and worked at the Old Fort Elevator and was the owner/operator of the Richard E. Heilman Livestock Hauling Company. He was a Little League coach and a Boy Scout leader for many years. Dick was an avid softball player, a Captain with the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department and a lifelong member of the Old Fort Ex-Hi's.
Funeral services for Dick will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Tuesday, at Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department or to the Old Fort Little League.
