Richard Walliser Obituary

Richard J. Walliser 93, of Attica, passed away Sunday May 31, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born January 4, 1927, Attica to Leonard and Agnes (Miller) Walliser. He married Arlene Kaple on May 7, 1949 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in New Washington , and she survives in Attica.

Survivors include  two sons, Dennis (Judy) Walliser of New Albany, Rodney (Kristin) Walliser of Norwalk, four daughters, Sandra  Holmer of Republic, Christine (Dave) Alt of Bellevue, Dana Walliser of Attica, Elaine (Mike) Danhoff of Attica, fourteen grandchildren, Tony and Tim Holmer, Trisha Drossman, Grant Walliser, Erin Thompson, Dustin, Tyler, and Brennen Alt, Chelsea Klingshirn, Natalee Mosley, Kurtis and Nicole Walliser, Lindsey Danhoff-Oglevee, Hollie Danhoff, and two step grandchildren Lathan and Alaina Chapman, and nineteen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Harold (Betty) Walliser of Florida, Gerald (Ernestine) Walliser of Attica, and Kenny (Vicki) Walliser of Fostoria, two sisters, Joan Bogner of Westerville and Phyllis Walliser of Attica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Doris Kaple, and a son-in law, Donald Holmer.

Richard was employed for 33 years at North Central Electric in Attica , working as a lineman and warehouseman. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, the Father Anthony Teolis Council #3062 Knights of Columbus of Attica, and he volunteered time to his parish for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing cards at the Hill with his friends, and watching Ohio State and Cleveland Indians game..

A private family visitation will take place at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. , on Wednesday June 3, 2020, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, with Rev. Joseph Szybka  officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Attica.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hope Parish, Juvenile Diabetes or Stein Hospice.
