Roger F. Garn, 93, of Bloomville and formerly of Bettsville, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at his residence.
Roger was born on May 17, 1931 in Bettsville, to the late Gerald and Louise (Mowery) Garn. He married Lorna (Heins) in Fremont on April 7, 1951 and she survives in Bloomville.
Other survivors include his children, Nancy (Fred) Rollins of Tiffin, Connie (Randy) Weyant of Winter Haven, FL, Jane Scouten of Bloomville and R. Steve (Monette) Garn of Port Clinton, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, three brothers, Paul Garn, Ned (Judy) Garn and J. David (Phyllis) Garn, a sister, Carol Jean (Larry) Robinett, sister-law, Ronda Krotzer, brother-in-law, John (Sandi) Heins and many nieces and nephews.
Roger worked at Basic Incorporated for 31 years and attended Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria. He graduated from Bettsville High School in 1949 and was a lifelong fisherman and golfer. He made his first hole in one at 90 years old. Roger enjoyed rollerblading into his 80’s until his doctor advised him it was too dangerous. Roger and his wife, Lorna enjoyed wintering in Florida for 33 years.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Keith Scouten, sister-in-law, Sue Garn, two sisters, Pat (Frank) Fausey and Audrey (Andy) Fedeles and an infant sister, Nancy Garn.
There will be a Celebration of Roger’s life held at a later date at Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria. Burial will be at Pleasant Union Cemetery at a later date. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
