Sandra M. Hartzell

Sandra M. Hartzell, 63, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

Sandra was born May 21, 1963, in Tiffin, to the late Wayne “Red” and Helen (Beeler) Stinchcomb. She married Joe Hartzell on October 7, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and he survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include her children; Charity (John) Ruppert of Ohio City, Brandi (Jeremy) Sherman of Fremont, and Heidi VanMetre of Apple Valley, California, step-children; Paul (Nadine) Hartzell of Tip City, Jason Hartzell of Georgia, and Eric (Kerri Bedio) Hartzell of Tiffin, ten grandchildren, one great-grandson, brothers; Steve (Diane) Stinchcomb of Tiffin, Rob (Wendy) Stinchcomb of Findlay, and Randy Stinchcomb of Germany, and a sister, Sue (John) Tyree of Tiffin.

Sandra graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1981. She worked in the ophthalmology and finance fields. Sandra was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and VFW Post 2858 both in Tiffin. Sandra's most proud accomplishment was her hard work in earning her Bachelors in Psychology from Capella University. She was also working on her Masters Degree and was only a few credits shy of graduating. Her most cherished time was spent with her family and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Elijah Sherman, and a sister, Sally Avila.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to the Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Thursday, from 11:30 a.m., until 1:30 p.m. at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin. Burial will follow the services on Thursday, at St. Mary Catholic cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
