Stephen Thomas Rhoad, 78, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.
Steve was born on February 16, 1947 in Tiffin to the late Robert and Mary Ellen (Rider) Rhoad. He married Marcia Shockley-Rhoad on July 27, 2012 in Port Clinton and she survives in Tiffin.
Steve graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1965 and The University of Cincinnati in 1970 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He was the Vice President of Engineering at Webster Industries and eventually retired after 42 years with the company. Steve was also a pet lover and served on the board of directors for the Humane Society of Seneca County. Steve was a member of the AMVETS Post #48, Tiffin Eagles, and Tiffin Elks Lodge. He was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Tiffin.
Steve was an avid golfer and loved sports. He was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and The Cincinnati Bearcats. Steve also loved to spend time at Lake Erie with his wife, Marcia, and play various crosswords and puzzles. Any game involving trivia was especially where Steve thrived.
Steve is survived by his wife, Marcia, step-children, Stephanie (Tyler) Shockley-Lowe of Cleveland, Christopher Shockley of Naples, FL, brother, Thomas (Kim) Rhoad of MI, sister, Sue Ellen (Terry) Bogner of Toledo, nephew, Cory (Sarah) Bogner of Toledo, niece, Amiee Bogner of Akron, great-nephews, Oliver and Jack, sisters-in-law, Sue (Dallas) Heck, and Jean Bell, nephew Eric Heck, and great-nephew Wyatt Heck.
Steve is also survived by his beloved animals PZ and Peanut, as well as grand-pups, Kilo and Archie.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kathy (Bell) Rhoad.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00am at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Chaplain Ben Sandrock officiating.
