T. Jean Mareches

T. Jean Mareches, 92, of Bloomville, formerly of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her residence.

Jean was born April 4, 1929, in Findlay, OH, to the late John Blaine Lewis and Hazel Almeda (Warren) Lewis.  She graduated from Arcadia High School on May 16, 1947 and was the class Valedictorian.  She attended Ohio State University and became a Buckeye fan for the remainder of her life.  Jean was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She married Dale H. Mareches, on December 20, 1950, in Indiana.  He preceded her in death on November 1, 2002.  The couple raised four children, Stephen (Vicki Miller) Mareches of Tucker, GA, Kathleen (Don) Heyman, of Tiffin, Teresa (Randy) Schroeder, of Tiffin and Scott (Doris) Mareches of Tiffin, all who survive Her.

Jean has eight surviving grandchildren, Amanda (Heyman) Mike Mandeville, Melinda (Heyman) Joel Crawford, Trent (Shelly) and Timothy Heyman, Jacob (Ashley) Rider, Jean (Rider) Alex Merecicky, Emily and Nathan Rider.

She has nine surviving great-grandchildren, Blayne and Lydia Crawford, Delainey Mandeville, Joshua, Jacob and Jordan Heyman, Addisyn Molina, Averi and Hadley Patterson.  Another great-grandson, baby boy Merecicky, is due in November.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Luther and Wilbur Lewis, Lillian Henkel and Ruth Lloyd, a grandson, Chad Lewis Heyman, two great-grandsons, Jarred Neil Heyman and Landon Steele Mandeville.

Jean was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children, extended family and friends.  A few of her many interests included collecting/restoring antiques, music, genealogy, and travel.

One of her numerous qualities was to look for the good in people, emphasize it and show them kindness.  Her sense of humor was lively, her determination keen, and her heart gentle.  Jean will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM., Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4-7., at the funeral home.  Burial will follow services on Tuesday, at St. Joseph Cemetery.
