Tonya Y. Joseph, 65, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at her residence June 11, 2025 at 5:02PM, as she was comforted by her family.
Tonya was born April 2, 1960, in Fremont, to the late Paul and Norma Jean (Bloom) Sensabaugh. She married Curt R. Joseph on a beautiful spring day in 2000 and he survives in Fremont.
Other survivors include her children Jeremy (Carrie) Koppus of Bradner, and Melissa Koppus of Sandusky; step-children Bruce (Teresa) Joseph of Fremont, Kim (Brad) Shank of Fremont, and Melissa Karr of Toledo; grandchildren, Megan (Ben) Johansen of Tiffin, Ian Joseph of Fremont, Cameron Joseph of Fremont, Paige Justinger of Fremont, Brant (Tristan) Shank of Fremont, Brooke Shank of MA, Lauren (Cole) Barricklow of NC, Trinity Koppus of Fostoria, Jett Koppus of Fostoria, and Willa Koppus of Fostoria; brothers, Paul Sensebaugh Jr. of Deshler, Aron Sensabaugh of Chillicothe, Roy (Elida) Sensabaugh of Deshler, and Dan Sensabaugh of Fostoria; sister, Karen Sensabaugh of Ottawa; Daughter-in-law, Sara Michaels of Fostoria; and one great-grandson, Crewe Shank of Fremont. She is also survived by many friends and family members.
Tonya worked as the Food Service Director in Fostoria for many years and enjoyed seeing the children come by during the lunch hour to say hello. Some of her favorite pastimes were filled with crafting with her grandkids, crocheting, finding treasures while antiquing, and spending quality time with her family. She is best remembered for her wild sense of humor, tender and giving heart, strength and resilience, and fierce love for her family.
Tonya was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Spencer Felkel, and Graham Koppus.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Grace Community Church in Fremont on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 4PM-7PM. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice or the Sandusky County Humane Society.
