Vernon C. Hites

Vernon C. Hites, 69, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

Vernon was born September 19, 1954, in Tiffin, to the late Melvin Nelson Hites and Gloria (Baker) Kinn. He married Kimberly (Herkimer) in Tiffin on November 1, 2016 and she survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include his children, Vernon (Misty) Hites Jr. of Tiffin, Crystal (Jim) Dodson of Melmore, Carla Hites of Tiffin, two step-children, Jodi (Robert) Calkins and Kelly Kaczmarek both of Toledo, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a brother, Norman (Lori) Hites of Tiffin, a sister, Jeannie Fitch of Tiffin and his former wife, Catherine Fraley of Tiffin.

Vernon was the owner/operator of V&C Classic Auto Sales. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. Vernon enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the casinos and playing the slots.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Hites, two brothers, Larry and Robert Hites, a brother-in-law, Emmitt Fitch, a sister, Doris Trevino and a sister-in-law, Judith Hites.

There will be a Celebration of Vernon’s Life held at 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Old Tile Yard, 798 N. St. Rt. 635, Tiffin, OH 44883. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
