Wilda Hohman Obituary

Wilda J. Hohman, 63, of Tiffin, passed away at 1:23 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at her residence.

Wilda was born on September 3, 1957 in Tiffin to the late Wilbert G. and Winona B. (Collins) Tong. She married Jeffrey A. Hohman at the Journey Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Tiffin on June 15, 1990, and he survives in Tiffin.

Survivors include her husband, son, Neil T. Mizen of Tiffin, brother, Robert E. (Kathy) Tong of Tiffin, and two sisters, Juanita B. Glick of Tiffin, and Wanda J. (Jack) Nickel of Tiffin, father-in-law, Peter (Vera) Hohman, two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hohman of Risingsun, John (Pam) Hohman of Tiffin, and four sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Ervin) Shrock of Kansas, IL, Tiffany (Anthony) Hohman of Fostoria, and Shari (Lawrence) Swartz of Fostoria, and many nieces and nephews. 

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Janet Hemminger.

Wilda graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1975. Wilda was very active in the local baseball community. She severed many years as Secretary and scorekeeper for Tiffin D-League and continued through the transition to Cal Ripken Major Division. Wilda's service to the Tiffin area youth was invaluable and wasn't limited to the ball field. She also served as a weekly religion education instructor at Noble, Middle School and Washington Schools. Wilda was a member of Journey Church and taught Sunday School, Youth Group, and Vacation Bible School there, as well as overseeing youth bowling leagues at Heritage Lanes on Saturdays.

Wilda was known for her love of animals, especially her cats. She was an avid Ohio State University athletics fan and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service for Wilda will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Journey Church. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
