William Edward Klaiss, 93, of Bettsville, passed away at 10:11 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at his residence.
William was born in Tiffin, on November 7, 1927, to the late Delbert Thomas and Mabel Augusta (Hoover) Klaiss. He married Viola (Hammer) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Millersville on January 5, 1953 and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2020.
William is survived by his children, Mike Klaiss of Bettsville, Bill (Diane) Klaiss Jr. of Bettsville, Cheryl (Paul) Yeakle of Bettsville, Theresa Bankes of Willard, Karen (James) Spurlock of Tiffin, Howard (Angie) Klaiss of Bettsville, Dennis Klaiss of Bettsville, sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a half-sister, Linda Berger of Toledo.
William was retired from Basic Refractories after worked 31 years in maintenance. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the American Legion in Bettsville. William was a United States Army Veteran serving during Korea.
William was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Viola Klaiss and a brother, Adelbert Klaiss.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to the Mass at church. Visitation for family and friends will also be on Wednesday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will follow the services on Wednesday, at the parish cemetery.
